Two Approaches for Pay-per-Use Software Construction
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes two architectures for building Pay-per-Run software systems. These are systems that allow the user to pay for each execution of an application, instead of buying a more expensive user license. This is a new model for software distribution, in which developers charge small fees for each execution in order to increase their user market. We detail each component of the architectures, and compare both approaches.

Software Licensing: Pay-Per-Use versus Perpetual
Piracy has been a major problem for perpetually licensed software. Usage-based licensing architecture such as pay-per-use or software-as-a-service can offer technology-based protection against piracy. We provide an analytical framework to examine the economic implications of pay-per-use versus perpetual licensing in a market with potential piracy, network effect, and heterogeneous consumers in ...

Java support the development of software tools that can be downloaded on-demand by users, software tools on-demand. These tools cannot be purchased like products, because they do not reside on the user’s machine. Rather, they can be used as “services.” In this paper, we propose a new paying mechanism for Electronic Commerce of software tools-on-demand, that charges users according to how much t...
متن کاملExploring the Design of Pay-Per-Use Objects in the Construction Domain
Equipment used in the construction domain is often hired in order to reduce cost and maintenance overhead. The cost of hire is dependent on the time period involved and does not take into account the actual use equipment has received. This paper presents our initial investigation into how physical objects augmented with sensing and communication technologies can measure use in order to enable n...

متن کاملAn Architecture for Supporting "Pay-per-use" Downloadable Systems based on Java 2 and JavaSpaces
The widespread using of Internet creates new ways to distribute software. Currently, software companies are able to sell their software products to customers through direct downloading. This software distribution model can be extended to "rent" software services to customers and charge them based on their usage of the delivered services, but there have not been many researches done in this area...
